Kronos Research has lost $1.4m due to two disgruntled employees

Two Kronos Research employees who worked on an automated algorithmic trading system did not receive bonuses when they left the firm.

Because of their dissatisfaction, they decided to interfere with the company's system, which after their manipulations mistook the worst investment portfolio for the best.

Because of this, Kronos suffered a loss of NT$42 million ($1.4 million).

After an internal investigation was completed, the engineers were sued. They were sentenced to 8 and 10 months in prison.
