Exploring Technology with Purpose and Curiosity in Child Development
In a world where screens and digital devices are ubiquitous, finding the balance between technology and meaningful interaction becomes paramount. The Fred Rogers Institute at Saint Vincent College recognizes this challenge and is hosting a visionary symposium titled “Toward Intention with Technology: Engaging Technology with Curiosity and Meaningful Boundaries in Homes and Schools.”
A New Approach to Digital Engagement
This groundbreaking series, in collaboration with experts like Erin Walsh from the Spark and Stitch Institute, will delve into how technology can be wielded not just as a tool but as a bridge to connection and learning. The symposium invites educators, parents, and caregivers to see technology not as an enemy but as an ally when used intentionally and with awareness.
“We aim to transform technology from a passive experience to one of active engagement that encourages creativity and strengthens relationships,” Emma Swift Lee, director of the Fred Rogers Institute, states. The series is designed to reflect the compassion and curiosity that characterized Fred Rogers’ own approach to media.
