Hyundai Motor tries to ramp up production over the weekend despite strike - Reuters
Hyundai Motor Co's huge factory complex increased production over the weekend despite a nationwide truckers' strike that hit ports and other South Korean industrial giants.
On the fifth day of the strike, about 100 truckers gathered at the main gate of the Hyundai plant in Ulsan city, protesting soaring fuel prices and demanding higher freight rates to cover costs.
South Korea is a major supplier of semiconductors, smartphones, cars, batteries and electronics. The strike has exacerbated uncertainty about global supply chains.
