The government failed to secure the support of opposition parties for a bill to restore coal-fired power. The bill was rejected in parliament, and opposition representatives expressed dissatisfaction with the country's energy policy.

Plans for the bill included energy companies developing plans to switch to energy sources other than gas. As well as launching the Mellach coal plant, which was closed two years ago.
