Revamped Arburg Technology Centre Paves the Way for Sustainable Innovation
Arburg has proudly reopened its Technology Centre (ATC) in Rednitzhembach, Germany, after an extensive three-year renovation and expansion project. As the doors were ceremoniously opened on July 3, 2025, a sense of achievement and forward-thinking innovation filled the air. The event saw around 170 guests attending an Open Day, eager to explore the facility’s new capabilities and groundbreaking technologies.
A New Era for Arburg’s German Presence
“The ATC Rednitzhembach has played an important role for our customers for 30 years,” emphasized Michael Hehl, Arburg’s managing partner, during his opening remarks. This site has been significant for Arburg since its inception, underlining its continuing legacy and growing importance.
Taking Sustainability to New Heights
The expansion has not only doubled the ATC’s floor space to 1,600 square meters, allowing for a larger array of Allrounder injection moulding machines, but it also placed a strong emphasis on sustainability. Arburg’s commitment to the environment is now visibly marked by the building exceeding the German Energy Saving Ordinance requirements by an impressive 25%.
Harnessing Green Power
The 65,000 kWh photovoltaic installation now powers the centre with renewable energy, enough to support 20 average households each year. In tandem, a sophisticated geothermal system with 24 deep-drilled probes complements the energy needs, while waste heat recovery strategies further bolster the facilities’ efficiency.
Cutting-Edge Demonstrations
Guests were treated to live demonstrations, witnessing the marvel of modern-day machinery. Noteworthy was the electric Allrounder 270 A crafting bioplastic cutlery from sunflower seed compounds, perfectly illustrating the possibilities of sustainable materials. Alongside, the two-component Allrounder More 2000 showcased its prowess by producing fully automated Frisbee discs using innovative hard-soft material combinations.
As stated in Sustainable Plastics, Arburg’s enhanced ATC is set to serve as a beacon of technological advancements, seamlessly blending aesthetics with functionality and eco-consciousness. This facility now stands as a testament to Arburg’s dedication to innovation and its unwavering environmental commitment.
In its new avatar, the ATC continues to serve its regional clientele and positions itself as a leader in sustainable progress, paving the way for a brighter, more eco-friendly future in the field of precision engineering and manufacturing.
