Russia may receive microchips for military purposes from household appliances bought in friendly countries, the newspaper said.

Bloomberg collected data from Eurostat:

  • Armenia imported more washing machines from the EU in eight months than in the past two years.
  • In August, Kazakhstan imported $21.4 million worth of European refrigerators - three times more than in 2021.
  • These countries have started buying more electric breast pumps from the EU, even though the birth rate has fallen.

The EU is very concerned about this. Bloomberg believes that these countries may be shipping this equipment to Russia. And the Russian Federation is getting the chips and using them in weapons.
