The S&P 500 Index is currently down 3.15%. The Nasdaq is losing almost 4%. Among the few surviving companies were Coca-Cola and McDonald's.

Amid the negative sentiment, traders are rebooting hedging in the options market, as evidenced by the VIX index. The relative trading volume of loss-protecting contracts is at average levels of the COVID-19 pandemic today.
