The world food price index has fallen for the fifth month in a row after a record high in March 2022, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization said.

The decline in global food prices is a positive trend, but still the August reading is 7.9% higher than a year earlier.

This trend may slow global inflation, which has also reached record levels. However, Europeans expect food shortages due to rising gas and energy prices.
