During the period from July to November of 2022/23 marketing year, Ukraine exported 11.9 thsd tonnes of rye, down 85% compared with the same period a season earlier (80.7 thsd tonnes).

It is noted that the main importers of Ukrainian grain, according to the results of 5 months of the current season, were Poland and Spain with a total share of 95%. Thus, 6.5 thsd tonnes of rye were shipped to Poland (-74% compared to 2021/22 MY), and 4.8 thsd tonnes - to Spain (-48%).

According to the December forecasts of analysts, in 2022/23 MY rye exports from Ukraine are expected at the level of 20 thsd tonnes, down 88% compared with the results of 2021/22 season (162 thsd tonnes).

"The significant decrease of the grain shipments to the foreign market is directly related to the significant reduction of its production. Thus, if in 2021/22 MY the gross harvest of rye amounted to 593.2 thsd tonnes, then in the current season, due to the reduction of the harvested area under the crop as a result of the military invasion of Russia into the territory of our country, it is estimated by the agency analysts at only 244.6 thsd tonnes (-59%)," - the statement said.
